MyPhone has finally showed plans of releasing new smartphone units for Filipinos. The best so far is the successor to their flagship phone, the MyPhone A919 Duo which is the new MyPhone A919i Duo.
That small letter i has been used by MyPhone to indicate an upgrade in the specs of the unit but with relatively the same size. But are these new features enough to throw off Cherry Mobile’s Flame 2.0 and Omega HD and Starmobile’s Diamond? Let’s find out!
MyPhone A919i Duo |
This is the biggest factor in defining the place of MyPhone A919i Duo in the ranks of locally branded smartphones in the Philippines.
Competitors be warned, MyPhone A919i Duo has a quad core processor! It’s not yet clear what chip MyPhone will use but the fact that it’s quad core will make most people jump in excitement.
MyPhone A919i Duo also has the latest Android OS at its heart – Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean.
To complete the trio of specs, MyPhone A919i Duo’s Quad Core processor and Jelly Bean OS runs on a High Definition display.
MyPhone A919i Duo has a 5 inch HD screen with IPS technology. There is a very good chance that it’s screen will also use Dragontrail glass making it scratch resistant.
Of course, a high definition screen should come with a good camera. MyPhone A919i Duo has an 8 Megapixel main camera at its back with an LED flash and a 2 Megapixel camera at it’s front.
Sadly, MyPhone A919i Duo won’t be able to access the 4G network of Globe and Smart. It can only connect to 3G network. Don’t get me wrong, 3G is good but MyPhone would have been the absolute winner if it offered 4G connectivity with this phone.
MyPhone A919i Duo can connect to basic wireless networks via WiFi. It can also act as a WiFi hotspot. It is equipped with Bluetooth 2.0 and A-GPS. It’s definitely capable of having two sim cards.
Right now, there is no information about the battery of A919i Duo. However, a 5 inch screen needs a lot of power to survive a day of continuous use.
I have to admit that I don’t like that MyPhone puts the map of the Philippines at the back of their smartphones. Again, don’t get me wrong. I’m not against it, it just does not suit the taste of many customers. You can use stickers for that.
The leaked pictures shows that MyPhone A919i Duo is a very thin phone. That will surely be a plus factor. The curved edges also make it look clean and comfortable to the hands.
MyPhone A919i Duo will come at just under ten thousand pesos – that’s ₱ 9,590.00. Are you going to buy this new smartphone from the Pinoy superbrand? I’d love to hear your opinion.
