Oppo has finally made the very slim Oppo R5 smartphone available in the Philippines with an official price of ₱21,990. It boasts a very thin profile of only 4.85mm!
Despite its slimness, the Oppo R5 still packs powerful internals including a Snapdragon 615 chipset, 2GB RAM, 4G LTE connectivity and a 2,000mAh battery.
The battery capacity is always the first problem as smartphones get thinner and thinner. Oppo didn’t just give the R5 a decent battery capacity but also added VOOC Quick Charging feature allowing it to re-charge up to 75% in 30 minutes.
The Oppo R5 has a 5.2-inch full HD AMOLED display run by an Adreno 405 graphics processor and Android 4.4 Kitkat with the company’s Color OS 2.0 on top. It also has a 13MP camera at the back and another 5MP camera at the front.
It has a couple of quad core CPUs clocked at 1.5GHz and 1.0GHz making it an octa core smartphone. It also comes with 16GB of onboard storage space but without a microSD card slot.
There are also a bunch of connectivity options and sensors within the Oppo R5 including NFC and E-compass. Thankfully, there is a micro USB to 3.5mm audio jack adaptor and in-ear earphones included in the package.
The only issue left before the Oppo R5 becomes a hit in the Philippines is its steep price. Oppo Philippines execs should have already observed the Filipino consumers’ preference by now.
