Cherry Mobile has a new Windows 8.1 device, the Cherry Mobile Alpha Shift. It’s a convertible laptop also referred to as a 2-in-1 device since it can also function as a tablet.
The Cherry Mobile Alpha Shift has a 10.1-inch screen, quad core Intel Atom processor clocked at 1.33 GHz and 2GB of RAM. It’s a bit pricey at ₱14,499 but let’s see if it’s worth it.
Cherry Mobile didn’t specify the screen resolution of the Alpha Shift’s screen but it’s most probably a 600 x 1024 Pixel panel. It runs on a full version of Windows 8.1 which means you can install and run common desktop applications.
It should have a good enough performance when used to browse websites and check out social media apps. You can even play casual and some hard core games in their lowest settings. You’ll be limited by the Intel HD graphics processor though.
There’s only 32GB of onboard storage on the Cherry Mobile Alpha Shift. Nevertheless, there’s a 500GB HDD in the docked keyboard.
The Cherry Mobile Alpha Shift has one USB 2.0 port, a micro USB port in its tablet form and a micro HDMI port for connecting it to an external screen such as your TV.
It has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 for connectivity and a 1.2MP camera for video calling. It runs on a 6,300mAh battery which is non-removable.
You can now buy the Cherry Mobile Alpha Shift at several online shops at a reduced price tag. It’s original SRP is ₱15,500.
