Google and Asus announced a new device called Chromebit that plugs into the HDMI port of your TV or LCD Projector and run Chrome OS, effectively turning that screen into a full fledged computer!

You can then connect the Chromebit to a Wi-Fi network and access websites such as Facebook, YouTube and of course, Google. All of these for a price tag of under $100 – that’s around ₱4,500.

The Asus Chromebit runs on a 1.8GHz quad core processor and 2GB of RAM. There’s 16GB of on-board storage and a USB 2.0 port on one end for additional storage or connecting other peripherals, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

Asus will make the Chromebit available this summer. It’s not yet clear if the company will bring this here in the Philippines.
