Most of us have HD smartphones while others show off their quad HD or 2K flagships. Still, Sony wants to push this further by launching the Xperia Z5 Premium with a 4K display.
That’s a resolution of 2160 x 3840 pixels or a pixel density of a whopping 806 pixels per inch! It should show very crisp and clear graphics but might also affect the battery life and performance negatively.
Just like most smartphones from Sony, the Xperia Z5 Premium has an OmniBalance design and built with metal and glass. It’s IP65/68 certified as dust-proof and water resistant even without a cover for the USB port.
Qualcomm’s octa core Snapdragon 810 powers the phone coupled with 3GB of RAM. The software side is an almost pure Android 5.1 Lollipop with Sony icons and apps.
Photography is handled by a 23MP camera at the back with a brand new and exclusive image sensor. A 5MP front camera takes care of selfies.
There are three color options – black, gold and chrome. |
The Sony Xperia Z5 Premium can connect to 4G LTE networks and supports NFC, dual band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1 and USB OTG. Its screen can also be mirrored using MHL and a finger print sensor is tucked in its power button.
There’s 32GB of built-in storage but can be expanded up to 200GB using a microSD card. Its battery is rated 3,430mAh but isn’t removable.
International pricing will be revealed in November while local SRP here in the Philippines may follow.
