Several months after Microsoft launched Windows 10 for desktop, the company has unveiled the first three Lumia smartphones that run on the mobile version of its latest operating system.
Windows 10 enables these phones to transform into a full-fledged desktop PC when connected to a large screen via a Display Dock. There’s also an improved user interface, new Microsoft Edge browser and support for iOS and Android apps.
Microsoft’s flagship smartphone for 2015 is the Lumia 950. Its AMOLED display is powered by a Snapdragon 808 processor with 3GB of RAM.
There’s a 20 Megapixel camera with Carl ZEISS optics and triple LED flash at the back and 5 MP selfie snapper on the front. It also has a USB Type-C port and a 3000mAh battery.
Its international price tag is $550 or a little over ₱25,000 and will be available on November 2015.
The Microsoft Lumia 950 XL has almost the same features as the Lumia 950 but with the obviously larger display.
It also runs on a faster Snapdragon 810 processor and powered by a slightly larger battery rated at 3,340mAh. Its RAM stays at 3GB though.
International pricing is $650 which is a little over ₱30,000. It will start shipping on November too.
Now this one caters to the budget minded. The Microsoft Lumia 550 only costs $139 or around ₱6,500 but still has the latest Windows operating system!
It comes with a 4.7-inch HD display but only has Snapdragon 210. That’s an octa core processor but clocked at merely 1.1GHz.
There’s a 5 Megapixel camera at the back, 1GB of RAM and a 2,700mAh battery. It has 4G LTE connectivity though.
