ASUS Philippines launched the world’s thinnest smartphone with 3x optical zoom during the Sinulog Festival 2016 in Cebu, Philippines – the ASUS ZenFone Zoom.
It’s the perfect occasion to test out the phone’s camera and use its optical zoom capability to capture the warm smiles and colorful costumes of the different contingents even in a sea of people.
ASUS partnered with Japanese lens maker HOYA to keep the ZenFone Zoom’s thickness to under 12mm. The phone’s 13 Megapixel camera also has laser autofocus system allowing it to take those long shots quickly.
Those pictures and videos can then be saved on its 128GB built-in storage. That’s already plenty but ASUS even managed to make a room for a microSD card to expand it to as much as 128GB!

The ASUS ZenFone Zoom runs on 2.3GHz quad core processor from Intel coupled with 4GB of RAM.
It flaunts a large 5.5-inch full HD display with a scratch resistant Corning Gorilla Glass 4 on top and the company’s Zen UI for the software.
It’s just a single SIM smartphone but has 4G LTE connectivity. It also has dual band Wi-Fi and a 3,000mAh non-removable battery.
Design-wise, the ASUS ZenFone Zoom still looks premium despite its rather bulky body. There’s a metal frame around its edges and the back cover is made from real leather.
The sad thing is its price. Despite being known to offer its smartphones at affordable price, ASUS has only managed to bring the ZenFone Zoom’s official price in the Philippines to ₱26,995.00.
