CAT Phones reveals a new smartphone called CAT S60 with the company’s signature rugged build and the world’s first integrated thermal camera from FLIR.
This means that the smartphone can be used to determine hot or cold spots and see animals or people at night among other applications of thermal imaging. It’s also the first smartphone to be waterproof for up to 5 meters.
The CAT S60 has a 4.5-inch HD display protected by a 1mm thick Gorilla Glass 4 with wet finger and glove support. Other smartphones usually have a scratch protective layer measuring less than half a millimeter.
It runs on an octa core Snapdragon 617 processor with 3GB of RAM and Android 6.0 Marshmallow as the operating system. Internal storage amounts to 32GB which can be expanded up to 128GB using a microSD card.
The integrated FLIR thermal camera can shoot pictures and videos at VGA resolution (480 x 640 pixels). A 13 Megapixel ‘normal’ camera is also found at the back and a 5MP selfie snapper is on the front.
It can connect to 4G LTE networks with dual band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, A-GPS, NFC and FM Radio for additional connectivity.

The CAT S60 comes with sensors for altitude, atmospheric pressure, movement, proximity and ambient light. A non-removable 3,800mAh battery powers the phone.
It has a MIL-STD-810G certification which means it’s salt, dust, humidity, rain, vibration, solar radiation, transport and thermal shock resistant.
The official price is $599 which is roughly equivalent to ₱28,500.
