Turkey’s General Mobile once again advances the Android One program by launching the GM5 Plus smartphone at MWC 2016 in Barcelona.
It’s the most advanced Android One smartphone to date boasting a 13MP selfie camera coupled with an LED flash, 3GB RAM and a USB Type-C port. A similar phone might be released in the Philippines soon.
Cherry Mobile’s One G1 smartphone is a variation of the General Mobile 4G which was released last year. It’s logical to assume that the local brand will also pick up the GM5 Plus and bring it here.
Thus, you have all the reason to get excited! The General Mobile GM5 Plus flaunts a 5.5-inch full HD display covered by a layer of scratch resistant Gorilla Glass 4 with 2.5D curved edges.
It’s powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor with the aforementioned 3GB of RAM and the latest version of Android, version 6.0.1 Marshmallow. Of course, it will receive an update for the next version of the OS straight from Google.
The General Mobile GM5 Plus has a 13 Megapixel camera at the back and another 13 Megapixel camera on the front. Both are accompanied by a dedicated LED flash and are autofocus.
It has a metallic frame and thin bezels resulting to an almost 80% screen to body ratio. There’s 32GB of built-in storage, a card slot for up to 128GB microSD cards and a 3100mAh battery that supports Quick Charge 3.0.
The official price of the General Mobile GM5 Plus in Turkey is under 900 Turkish Lira. That’s around ₱14,000 – a bit pricier than other Android One smartphones but the features make up for it.
