Lenovo becomes the first device manufacturer to incorporate Google’s Project Tango in a smartphone – the Lenovo Phab2 Pro.
Tango is a real-time 3D mapping technology composed of cameras and several sensors for motion tracking, depth perception and area learning. This allows the device to visualize its surroundings including the shape and size of the room, presence of obstacles and textures.
Using the Lenovo Phab2 Pro with Tango, a user can see how a furniture or new paint will look like on a room. It also offers a lot of Augmented Reality applications such as games where the surrounding objects are used, simulations and educational demos.
Lenovo compares Tango with GPS and forecasts a future of smartphones with this technology built-in.
