After countless teasers and pre-launch promotions, OPPO has finally launched the OPPO F5 smartphone in the Philippines.
It features a 20 Megapixel selfie camera with AI Beautification technology and a 6-inch ‘Full Screen’ display. The latter means an 18:9 aspect ratio, minimal bezels on all sides, curved corners, curved edges and full HD resolution!
It was first rumored that the OPPO F5 will have a dual front camera. However, the company opted for a single selfie shooter with very high resolution. Portrait Mode is still present but the bokeh or blurred background effect is achieved using software techniques.
Meanwhile, an Artificial Intelligence application identifies several aspects of the selfie then apply the most appropriate enhancements.
There’s even a 16 Megapixel camera at the back!
The OPPO F5 boasts a new processor – the MediaTek MT6763. It has a 2.5GHz octa core CPU and Mali-G71 graphics processor. Coupled with 4GB of RAM and an Android Nougat based ColorOS, these should provide a good performance whether for heavy games or multi-tasking.
It comes with a rear mounted fingerprint sensor ergonomically placed at the back. There’s also a Face Unlock feature similar to the recently unveiled iPhone X.
The OPPO F5 is a dual SIM smartphone with 4G LTE connectivity. However, it sticks to a microUSB 2.0 port instead of USB Type-C.
A 3200mAh battery powers the device.
The official price of the OPPO F5 in the Philippines is ₱15,990.00. Color options include gold, red and black.
Availability starts at the first week of November 2017. Pre-orders are now open with a free Bluetooth speaker.
