The Huawei Nova 2i and Nova 2 Lite have similarly sized displays but the latter has lower screen resolution. It does come with newer software versions, Android Oreo and EMUI 8.0, but an update for the Nova 2i is already in the works.
Quad cameras is still one of the defining feature of the Nova 2i while the Nova 2 Lite only has three cameras – two at the back and one on the front. Thankfully, it can still produce good-looking selfies.
Huawei’s own Kirin 659 chipset is powering the Nova 2i while a Snapdragon 430 is at the heart of the Nova 2 Lite. Both phones run smoothly in day to day tasks with minor hiccups when a lot of apps are open.
There’s no issue when it comes to connectivity too. Browsing the internet via mobile data on 4G LTE networks or Wi-Fi is fast as long as the signal is strong.
A bigger 3340mAh battery keeps the Nova 2i alive while the Nova 2 Lite has a 3000mAh battery. Both are long lasting thanks to EMUI’s battery optimizations.
Charging time is almost the same at a little over two hours since the smaller battery of the Nova 2 Lite also comes with a slower 5V/1A charger compared to the bundled 5V/2A charger of the Nova 2i.
Both smartphones can also be unlocked via a fingerprint sensor or face recognition. However, the Nova 2 Lite lacks one sensor that may be important for gamers – a gyroscope.
It’s easy to give this to the Huawei Nova 2 Lite with its sub-10k official price. However, the Huawei Nova 2i is now available for a lower price tag of ₱13,990.00.
Both also come with freebies – a Bluetooth speaker for the Nova 2i and a Bluetooth headset for the Nova 2 Lite.
