OPPO Philippines has officially launched the new OPPO F9 smartphone in the country.
It boasts a fast charging technology that gives 2 hours of talk time for merely 5 minutes of charging! It also has a ‘waterdrop display’ and dual rear cameras.
The OPPO F9 uses the company’s VOOC Flash Charge technology which is usually reserved for its flagship products. It charges the device with 5 Volts and 4 Amperes or 20 Watts of power which is four times faster than 5V/1A charging of budget smartphones.
There are several layers of protection embedded on the charger and the phone itself to protect it from overheating.
I’ve talked about this ‘5-minute charge, 2-hour talk’ claim of OPPO in the following articles:
● OPPO F9 Promises 5 Minutes of Charging for 2 Hours of Talk Time
● How the OPPO F9 Achieves 2-Hour Talk Time with 5-Min Charging
While most smartphones already have a notched display, the OPPO F9 uses a very small notch and calls it a Waterdrop Display. It’s just enough to house the front camera to provide an immersive screen that almost touches the phone’s borders.
Aside from the small notch, it’s also one of the first smartphones to use Gorilla Glass 6 as its scratch protection layer.
The screen itself is a 6.3-inch LTPS LCD panel with FHD+ resolution or 1080 x 2340 pixels. It has a tall 19.5:29 aspect ratio, curved edges and rounded corners.
The OPPO F9 features a dual rear camera system composed of a 16 Megapixel main rear camera and a 2 Megapixel secondary rear camera. The latter allows it to capture Portrait shots with blurred backgrounds or bokeh effect.
It also has Artificial Intelligence or AI features including the ability to identify scenes such as sunsets, or food then automatically apply enhancements in the colors and lighting to make pictures look livelier.
OPPO stays true with its ‘Selfie Expert’ tagline with the OPPO F9. It has a 25 Megapixel front camera that sits at the screen’s notch.
I’ve seen OPPO’s natural beautification feature in the OPPO F5. I’m still amazed at how they can turn my face more appealing without looking fake or overly edited. That should just improve with newer iterations.
The OPPO F9 doesn’t just shoot good pictures, it’s also a beautiful subject for a photograph. This is due to the new gradient body colors.
There’s sunrise red, twilight blue and starry purple. Which one is your favorite? I personally like the start purple color.
The MediaTek Helio P60 powers the OPPO F9 along with 6GB of RAM. This should run popular battle royale and MOBA games smoothly.
It has a 3500mAh battery with AI Battery Management and the aforementioned VOOC Flash Charge technology.
Oh, there’s also a VOOC Flash Charge car charger so you’ll experience the same fast charging speeds while charging the phone in cars.
The OPPO F9 has an official price of ₱17,990.00 in the Philippines. It’s available for pre-order starting on August 24, 2018 up to August 29, 2018 with freebies worth ₱3,490.00.
It will also be available in installment plans via Home Credit as well as Globe Postpaid.
