The most affordable new iPhone this year is finally available in the Philippines. That’s the iPhone XR with an official price that starts at ₱50,990 for the 64GB storage variant.
It’s smaller and lacks the dual cameras of the iPhone XS Max but it still has the same Apple A12 Bionic chip, 12 Megapixel main camera, Face ID and a liquid retina display. It also comes in several color options including white, blue, black, yellow, coral and red.
While checking the price of the iPhone XR in different stores both online and in the physical world, I noticed a slight difference.
So far, online shop Lazada and Argomall as well as Apple Authorized Reseller iCenter are offering the iPhone XR for its official price of ₱50,990. Meanwhile, Apple Authorized Resellers Beyond the Box and Power Mac Center have a slightly higher price at ₱52,990.
Of course, most Filipino consumers will still prefer the physical stores where they can have a hands on experience with the device before making the purchase.
Perhaps the most common method of buying the iPhone XR will be via a postpaid plan from Globe or Smart.
Globe suggests its Plan 1799 with a one-time cashout of ₱26,400 and 24 months contract period. It includes 11GB of data monthly, unlimited Globe/TM calls, unlimited SMS to all networks, Spotify Premium for 3 months and a few other perks.
Meanwhile, Smart’s preferred plan is GigaX 1499 with the same one-time cashout amount and contract duration. The data allocation is slightly lower though at 5GB with 10GB for videos.
