Despite being a budget smartphone, the Huawei Y6 Pro 2019 is equipped with a 13 Megapixel rear camera that has a wide f/1.8 aperture lens.
Smaller f-stop numbers mean that the camera can capture more light and should be able to produce better-looking pictures. Here are some sample pictures shot using the Huawei Y6 Pro 2019:
Let’s start with this simple picture of an Ironman statue. You can immediately see that the Huawei y6 Pro 2019 can produce decent pictures in good lighting conditions.
The details are sharp and colors are pretty accurate. It doesn’t seem like a picture from a budget smartphone!
This second sample picture was shot on the Huawei Y6 Pro 2019 at the Lucky Chinatown Mall in Binondo, Manila. Once again, the color reproduction is accurate with a well-balanced saturation.
It struggled a bit with the bright sky in the background but details on that building are still visible. Its dynamic range is not great but it’s decent for the price.
I don’t know about you but I’m impressed by this picture from the Huawei Y6 Pro 2019. Yes, the clouds are overexposed and the color of the leaves are a bit dull but those details are sharp!
Remember that I took these photos in bright conditions though. Let’s now see how this phone’s camera performs in low light.
I took this photo at Okada Manila. It’s not totally low light but this type of lighting can be challenging for smartphones.
Thankfully, the Huawei Y6 Pro 2019 still produced a good-looking image.
Here’s a more challenging low light subject for the Huawei Y6 Pro 2019. It’s already night time and the source of light are the open stalls and those Chinese lanterns.
It’s still a good picture, right? There’s no dedicated Night Mode in the phone’s camera app but this is already shareable on social media.
This one is a city skyline shot at night using the Huawei Y6 Pro 2019. It looks decent but the image is already soft and dark. In reality, those buildings at the bottom part are still visible and the high-rise buildings looked prettier.
Nevertheless, it has already produced several good pictures. It’s just good to know where are its limitations.
Here’s a sample selfie taken with the Huawei Y6 Pro 2019. It’s obviously not as good as the rear camera since it only has an 8 Megapixel resolution and an f/2.0 aperture.
Aside from the overexposed right side, this selfie looks good.
Since the Huawei Y6 Pro 2019 is equipped with a front LED flash, I tested it by taking a selfie in the dark.
It did manage to light-up the selfie but it still looked soft and grainy. You need steady hands to produce decent selfies in the dark even with that selfie toning flash.
