The recently announced Huawei Mate 30 and Huawei Mate 30 Pro won’t come pre-loaded with the Google Mobile Services.
Instead, it will be using the Huawei Mobile Services which includes the Huawei ID, Huawei App Gallery, Huawei Browser, and more. This is a direct result of the US ban preventing Huawei from using proprietary products made by US companies including Google.
Despite the lack of Google Mobile Services, the Huawei Mate 30 Pro is still using Android as its operating system with EMUI 10 software. It’s only the Google Playstore and other Google services that won’t come pre-installed on the device.
There might be a way for users to install these services upon setting up the device. However, the best solution right now is removing the US ban on Huawei.
“We cannot use the Google Mobile Services core, we can use the Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) core because of a US ban…” Huawei CBG CEO Richard Yu explained.
Huawei is further developing the Huawei Mobile Services to be a competitive alternative to Google’s services. It has a massive 1 Billion USD budget for the development and marketing of the HMS.
The Huawei App Gallery is currently available in over 170 countries, has over 390 million monthly active users, and more than 45,000 apps.
