The Realme 5i smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 chipset and 3GB of RAM, just like the Realme 5.
To test its gaming performance, I played some of the most popular games while measuring the framerate using GameBench Pro. Benchmark scores are also included as further points of comparison with other smartphones.
Mobile Legends now supports High Framerate (HFR) mode for smartphones running on the Snapdragon 665 chipset. I also set the graphics quality to High, turned on Outlines and enabled Shadows for the test.
The resulting average framerate is a perfect 60 FPS! This is a similar result achieved by the OPPO A9 2020 which uses the same chipset.
Call of Duty also shows the options for better graphics quality on the Realme 5i. However, I only set both graphics quality and framerate to High even though the Very High option is available.
This resulted in an average framerate of 50 FPS. Choosing the higher settings will only lessen the framerate without adding much to the gaming experience since the phone’s screen has an HD+ resolution, not FHD+.
The last game I tested on the Realme 5i is PUBG Mobile. Unlike the previous games, the settings are limited to Balanced graphics quality and Medium framerate.
Hence, the resulting average framerate is 26 FPS only. It’s obvious that the device is being pushed beyond its capabilities though because lags are noticeable when there is an encounter with enemies.
Here are the results of the gaming tests on the Realme 5i:
Game | Graphics | Framerate |
---|---|---|
Mobile Legends | High | 60 FPS |
Call of Duty Mobile | High | 50 FPS |
PUBG Mobile | High | 26 FPS |
NBA 2K20 | High | 32 FPS |
The performance of the Realme 5i can be compared with other smartphones based on the gaming test scores above. However, I don’t review all smartphones so use the following benchmark scores to compare it with other smartphones:
Benchmark | Realme 5i Score |
---|---|
Antutu Benchmark v8.2.2 | 169,029 Points |
3DMark Slingshot | 1,785 Points |
PCMark | 7,503 Points |
GeekBench 5 (Single Core) | 310 Points |
GeekBench 5 (Multi-Core) | 1,385 Points |
RealPi Benchmark | 3.90 Seconds |
Based on its scores in the gaming tests and benchmarking apps, the Realme 5i is a capable gaming smartphone with an affordable price tag.
It’s enough for playing Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and Call of Duty on Medium to High graphics quality. However, PUBG Mobile can only run smoothly on Low graphics quality.
