The realme 7 Pro uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G chipset with 8GB of RAM. This combination should be enough for playing games at high graphics quality.
I tested its gaming performance by measuring the average frame rate of each game using GameBench Pro. These include LOL WildRift, Mobile Legends, PUBG Mobile, Call of Duty Mobile, and NBA 2K20.
Mobile Legends and LOL WildRift
I’m not sure why but Mobile Legends: Bang Bang doesn’t have High Frame Rate mode or HFR on the realme 7 Pro. Hence, it only runs at a maximum frame rate of 30 FPS which feels sluggish when you’re used to 60 FPS of other smartphones.
Thankfully, LOL WildRift just became available to more users despite still being on a beta version. GameBench measured a perfect 60 FPS of average frame rate while playing the game.
Hopefully, HFR mode for Mobile Legends will be enabled on the device through an update soon. Meanwhile, WildRift is a perfect alternative.
Call of Duty Mobile
Call of Duty Mobile provides a way better gaming experience on the realme 7 Pro compared to Mobile Legends. It supports up to VERY HIGH graphics quality and MAX frame rate preset.
After several battle royale matches, GameBench Pro reported an average frame rate of 59 FPS. This becomes perfect when the graphics quality is lowered to MEDIUM.
I enjoyed playing the new Alcatraz map on the game as well as the Free for All mode.
NBA 2K20
Smartphone | Average Frame Rate in NBA 2K20 | |
---|---|---|
realme X3 SuperZoom | 89 fps | |
realme 6 Pro | 65 fps | |
realme 7 Pro | 55 fps | |
OPPO Reno2 | 51 fps | |
OPPO A9 2020 | 27 fps |
By default, the video settings of NBA 2K20 are set to HIGH on the realme 7 Pro. I kept the default settings for the test.
After several minutes of playing, the resulting average frame rate is 55 FPS. It’s not perfect but the game felt very smooth.
However, it can’t exceed 60 FPS even if the graphics quality is set to LOW. This is because the phone’s display doesn’t have a high refresh rate unlike the regular realme 7 or even its predecessor, the realme 6 Pro.
PUBG Mobile
The realme 7 Pro allows PUBG Mobile to be set at HD graphics quality but the supported frame rate presets are only up to High which limits the frame rate to 30 FPS.
It can be further lowered to Balanced graphics quality which will enable the Ultra frame rate preset. This results in a maximum frame rate of 40 FPS.
In both situations, the device easily reached the maximum frame rates with minimal frame drops during clashes.
Conclusion
Game | Graphics Quality | Frame Rate |
---|---|---|
Mobile Legends | High | 30 fps |
Call of Duty | High | 59 fps |
NBA 2K20 | High | 55 fps |
LOL WildRift | High | 60 fps |
PUBG Mobile | HD | 30 fps |
PUBG Mobile | Balanced | 40 fps |
The realme 7 Pro is a powerful mid-range gaming smartphone but not as impressive as the realme 6 Pro. It can run most games smoothly at high graphics quality with near-perfect frame rates.
However, it lacks the HFR mode of Mobile Legends which is a very popular game in the Philippines and doesn’t have a 90Hz refresh rate.
Other than that, the device provides an enjoyable gaming experience while playing LOL Wildrift, PUBG Mobile, Call of Duty Mobile, and NBA 2K20.
