Starlink, the satellite internet service of Elon Musk’s SpaceX, now accepts reservations for users in the Philippines.
Those who have signed up for their interest at starlink.com received emails about the reservation. The reservation fee is $99 or around ₱4,800 which is fully refundable should you change your mind.
I checked if the service will be available in several areas like Makati, Davao, Ilocos Norte, and my hometown in Ormoc City. It’s pretty much the entire country that will be covered by Starlink.
The company’s target for covering the Philippines is in 2022.
However, it’s important to place the reservation to secure your spot since availability is said to be limited. Each starlink satellite can only accommodate a specific number of users which is one of the reasons why it isn’t advisable for urban areas.
