The realme GT Master Edition smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G chipset with a 2.4GHz octa-core CPU, Adreno 642L GPU, and 8GB of RAM.
I tested its gaming performance by playing several of the most popular mobile games while measuring the average frame rate in frames per second or FPS using GameBench Pro. These include Mobile Legends, Call of Duty Mobile, PUBG Mobile, and Genshin Impact.
Mobile Legends supports up to High graphics quality on the realme GT Master Edition. I also enabled HFR mode, character outlines, and shadows.
After a Classic match, GameBench Pro reported a perfect average frame rate of 60 FPS! That’s the highest frame rate that MLBB and most games currently support although the device still has the capability to run games up to 120 FPS.
The game felt smooth while the graphics look crisp and vibrant on its AMOLED panel. It remained at a comfortable temperature too, thanks to its large vapor chamber. However, the Ultra graphics quality is disabled even when GT Mode is turned on which increases the phone’s performance.
Call of Duty Mobile or CODM supports up to Very High graphics quality on the realme GT Master Edition but I reduced it to High to be consistent with previous gaming reviews of other smartphones.
I played a multiplayer frontline match in the Nuketown map and recorded an average frame rate of 60 FPS.
That’s another perfect frame rate for a very popular mobile game! This means that it’s a great smartphone for playing competitive CODM events although earphones are necessary for spatial audio since it only has a single loudspeaker.
PlayerUnknown’s Battleground or PUBG Mobile can challenge the capabilities of the realme GT Master Edition.
By default, it’s limited to the Ultra frame rate preset capped at 40 FPS when the graphics quality is set to HD. It easily achieves that limit and holds it stable for a smooth gaming experience with good-looking graphics.
This can be changed to the Extreme frame rate preset if the graphics quality is reduced to Smooth. This results in an average frame rate of 60 FPS but with lower graphics quality! Flagship smartphones can usually support HD graphics quality and Extreme frame rate preset at the same time.
Genshin Impact is one of the most resource-intensive games right now. It sets the graphics quality to Low and limits the frame rate to 30 FPS by default on the realme GT Master Edition. I changed the graphics quality to high and the frame rate limit to 60 FPS for this test.
After several minutes of sprinting from Starfell Lake to Mondstadt Castle, GameBench Pro measured an average frame rate of 39 FPS.
The game is playable but with noticeable lags and jankiness during fights. I tried turning on the GT Mode to see if it can push the performance further but it only improved the frame rate to 40 FPS and increased the phone’s temperature to 41.7°C.
I had to reset the game’s graphics quality to low for decent gaming performance. It was able to achieve 41 FPS with minimal heating and a respectable 40 FPS when GT Mode is turned on.
Here are all the results of the different gaming tests I conducted with the realme GT Master Edition:
Game | Graphics Quality | Frame Rate |
---|---|---|
Mobile Legends | High | 60 FPS |
Call of Duty | High | 60 FPS |
PUBG Mobile | HD | 40 FPS |
PUBG Mobile | Low | 60 FPS |
Genshin Impact | High | 39 FPS |
Genshin Impact | Low | 41 FPS |
Genshin Impact | Low (GT Mode) | 50 FPS |
The realme GT Master Edition can provide a flagship-like gaming experience for games like Mobile Legends and Call of Duty Mobile at high graphics quality. PUBG Mobile is slightly challenging for the device but can still achieve a perfect frame rate when set to the lowest graphics quality.
Genshin Impact can push the device to its limits but it’s equipped with a high-performance GT Mode for a decent gaming experience at low graphics quality.
Hence, the realme GT Master Edition is an impressive gaming smartphone for its price. Depending on the user’s preferred games, it can certainly be a “real flagship killer” although more resource-intensive games can present a challenge even with its GT Mode.
