The vivo X80 Pro is vivo’s most premium smartphone this year, 2022. It’s packed with high-end features including a ZEISS-powered camera system, 2K display, and 80W ultra-fast charging.
I have the privilege to experience the device and explore its capabilities. Let’s start with the unboxing experience and my impressions upon holding the vivo X80 Pro for the first time.
The vivo X80 Pro comes in vivo’s premium box with a leather-like texture. This is similar to the vivo X70 that the company released in the Philippines last year.
Opening the box reveals the smartphone with the curved sides of the display grabbing the attention. I set the phone aside for a moment to check the two inner boxes for the accessories.
One box contains the SIM ejector pin, Quick Start Guide, and FREE faux leather phone case. Meanwhile, the other box has the 80W charging brick, USB Type-C cable, and FREE earphones with two extra silicone ear tips.
The vivo X80 has a design that immediately grabs people’s attention. Its display already looked impressive during my unboxing experience but the design at the back is even more interesting.
Its back material has a velvet-like finish which feels exquisite to touch. The large and reflective camera island contrasts this while also serving as a preview mirror for the subjects when taking pictures.
Three of the phone’s cameras are grouped inside a ring while the periscope telephoto camera is on the lower left corner of the camera island. ZEISS brandings are placed on the lower right corner, under the triple LED flash, and above the LASER autofocus sensor.
The vivo X80 Pro has heft tipping the scale at 219 grams while also having a reassuring sturdiness. It’s a premium-built device!
On the right side of the device are its power button and volume buttons. There’s a “PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY” branding at the flattened top along with an Infrared sensor and pin-hole microphone.
At the bottom are the SIM card tray, USB Type-C port, loudspeaker, and another pin-hole microphone. Take note that the earpiece of the device which is a narrow slit above the selfie camera also serves as a loudspeaker for a well-balanced stereo pair.
The ZEISS-powered cameras of the vivo X80 Pro are some of its biggest selling points. Here are some camera samples to tease you about its capabilities.
More samples will be published in the vivo X80 Pro full smartphone review.
