The new HONOR 200 Pro is dubbed as “The Portrait Master” because it has three 50 Megapixel cameras with Portrait enhancements.
Here are several sample portraits captured using its 50MP main camera, 50MP telephoto camera, and 50MP selfie camera. We also explored the different styles of its Harcourt Portrait mode which used AI to apply studio-like aesthetics.
Let’s start with a normal picture with no portrait enhancement:
Without any enhancement, the HONOR 200 Pro can already capture impressive pictures. The subject appears sharp with natural skin tone while the background colors have balanced saturation.
Of course, we’re here to see portraits. Here are several sample portraits with the default settings:

When you switch to Portrait mode in the HONOR 200 Pro’s camera app, the default zoom setting is 2x. It still uses the main camera cropped-in to simulate a 54mm lens which is great for portraits.
The pictures look pleasing with realistic skin tones, sharp details in the subject, and customizable bokeh effects. Subject separation looks good with a decent job in keeping some hair fibers visible in the cutout.
There’s a 2.5x mode which uses the telephoto camera for portraits. Here are some samples:
In my eyes, the 2.5x Portrait mode results in slightly sharper pictures in well-lit conditions but the regular 2x mode is better in low-light (see comparisons later below).
You may have noticed the “Harcourt” logo below each picture. That’s because these already have the “Vibrant” Harcourt Portrait enhancement applied by default.
Harcourt Studio Paris is known for its celebrity portraits and HONOR collaborated with them to create a portrait algorithm by using AI to determine the features of their greatest portraits.
With the HONOR 200 Series, you essentially have the studio’s portrait studio in your hands. Here are two more Harcourt Portrait styles available by tapping on the Harcourt logo in the camera app:
These monochrome portraits use the Harcourt Classic style. It’s the most fun mode to shoot with. We certainly enjoyed the photoshoot.
It’s not a simple black and white filter. I tried desaturating the previous sample pictures in Photoshop but that did not result in the same aesthetic. There are several tweaks in contrast and other parameters to create that classic portrait look.
Here’s another Harcourt portrait style:
This one is called Harcourt Portrait Color. It’s not as aggressive as the monochrome Classic portrait style but still gives off that vintage vibe.
Now let’s look at the picture quality when shooting indoors. Here are some indoor sample pictures:
The overall quality is almost the same as before with just a touch of reduction in sharpness. It still looks pleasing and the bokeh effect becomes more apparent when there are decorative lights in the background.
The last picture above was captured at night so you have a glimpse of the HONOR 200 Pro’s low-light camera performance.
Remember the difference between the 2x and 2.5x Portrait modes? It’s more apparent in low light pictures. Take a look at the following:
The 2x mode which uses the main camera looks brighter and sharper while the 2.5x mode which uses the telephoto camera gives you a slightly more zoomed-in image with smoother details.
Whatever mode is used, low-light portrait photography with the HONOR 200 Pro is impressive. Here are some more sample portraits:
Outdoor low-light portrait photography is challenging for any smartphone but the HONOR 200 Pro still produces good-looking pictures.
Details are a bit smoother but its AI-enhanced Night Portrait mode does a good job in creating pleasing portraits with enhanced brightness and decent subject detection.
Aside from its two out of three portrait cameras at the back, there’s also a 50 Megapixel camera on the front with its own Portrait mode. Let’s see some sample selfies:
The first sample selfie is a normal selfie with ultra-wide mode turned on. You can see sharp details and vibrant colors.
The other two sample selfies used Portrait Mode. Both look pleasing but with smoother details and the subject separation isn’t as good as the rear cameras.
Still, I can say that the HONOR 200 Pro smartphone is indeed The Portrait Master.
