The vivo V40 smartphone has three ZEISS co-engineered cameras – a 50MP main camera, 50MP ultra-wide camera, and 50MP selfie camera.
While reviewing the device for several weeks, I managed to take several pictures especially portraits. Here are sample photos that highlight the photographic capabilities of this smartphone in different situations.
This was captured at night inside a poorly lit restaurant using the default Portrait mode settings and the flash turned OFF.
These Portraits were captured outdoors with some decorative lights in the vicinity and Aura Light is turned ON.
This is how Portraits look like in daylight with the default 50mm focal length. It’s the most close-up of the three focal length options available in the camera app.
The 35mm focal length option is perfect for group portraits or when you want to show the background scenery too.
This one is an indoor portrait.
The default Photo mode of the vivo V40 can capture impressive pictures too but I highly recommend using Portrait mode when taking pictures of people.
Its 50MP ultra-wide camera can also produce good-looking pictures for landscapes, group pictures, and sceneries. Even low-light ultra-wide shots look amazing!
Low-light shots that doesn’t use Aura Light or flash look good. It can even take decent moon shots at 20x zoom level.
Here are sample selfies with good lighting situations. These selfies have sharp details so you might want to enable beautification to reduce blemishes.
These three selfies were captured in low-light situation. Details still look sharp and skin tone remains balanced.
Lastly, the vivo V40 comes with an AI Erase feature which intelligently removes unwanted objects in images.
Admittedly, it worked better in the first example with the dog walking along the beach. The second example resulted in unnatural railings. Nevertheless, It has saved several pictures when I was using this phone.
